The (inter)cultural dimension in a university context: Representations and practices of students

Abstract

This study is part of the teaching/learning of the (inter)cultural dimension in the Algerian university context. Two main objectives are assigned to our research. Firstly, it is a question of exploring the representations of students regarding the question of culture and interculturality. Secondly, it is a question of studying some of their practices and/or their strategies with regard to the appropriation of the culture of the language of study. To do this, we opted for the semi-structured interview as a research instrument in order to carry out research by survey with a group of six students enrolled in a master's degree at the University of Adrar, in the algerian Deep South.

Résumé

Cette étude s’inscrit dans le cadre de l'enseignement/apprentissage de la dimension (inter)culturelle en contexte universitaire algérien. Deux objectifs principaux sont assignés à notre recherche. Premièrement, il s’agit d’explorer les représentations des étudiants face à la question du culturel et de l’interculturel. Deuxièmement, il est question d’étudier quelques-unes de leurs pratiques  et/ou de leurs stratégies en ce qui a trait à l’appropriation de la culture de la langue d’étude. Pour ce faire, nous avons opté pour l’entretien semi-directif comme instrument de recherche afin de réaliser une recherche par enquête auprès d’un groupe de six étudiantes inscrites en 2^ème année master à l’université d’Adrar, au Grand Sud algérien.
