Difficulties of Translation and Localization from Old Russian: The Book Reliable News about Algeria... (1787) as a Case Study

This paper deals with the study of the difficulties of translation and localization of knowledge from the old Russian language of the 18th century, which differs from the modern Russian language radically in the manner of writing, and partly in the semantics of vocabulary. The article describes a long career in my translation of this book, which was written by a Russian officer who recounted everything that was seen on the spot in the years 1776-1777, which is the first documented Russian trip to Algeria, which was made by Brigadier General Matvey Grigorievich kokovtsov ten years before the publication of the book after its review and approval from the then famous publisher Fyodor tumansky and printed by Schnur Johann Karl in St. Petersburg in 1787. The article is limited to the above-mentioned book, where at its core we seek to correct some of the mistakes that the translator can make, and ways to avoid them, especially when it comes to the Russian language of the 18th century and when the text is subject to a specific temporal and spatial space. The article consists of four themes (introduction to the author, the story of the book; the importance of localization of the book; translation difficulties and ways to avoid them).
Аннотация: Данная статья посвящена изучению трудностей перевода и локализации знаний из древнерусского языка XVIII века, который радикально отличается от современного русского языка как в способе письма, так и в частичной семантике слов. Статья объясняет долгий путь моего перевода этой книги, написанной русским офицером, который описал все, что было наблюдено на месте в 1776-1777 годах. Эта работа считается первой задокументированной русской поездкой в Алжир, которую совершил генерал Матвей Григорьевич Коковцев за десять лет до публикации книги, которая была рассмотрена и одобрена известным тогда издателем Федором Томанским и напечатана Шнором Юганом Карлом в Санкт-Петербурге в 1787 году. Статья ограничена вышеупомянутой книгой, в основе которой лежит попытка исправить некоторые ошибки, которые может допустить переводчик, и способы их избежать, особенно когда речь идет о русском языке XVIII века и когда текст подчинен определенному временному и пространственному пространству. Исследование состоит из четырех разделов (ознакомление с автором, история книги; значение локализации книги; трудности перевода и способы их преодоления).
