The protest discourse through the slogans of pro-Palestine protesters, in Arab and Western cities
Abstract:
This article, based on a speech by the protest movement in support of Gaza (since October 2023), offers a linguistic-discursive study of the slogan. We examine this type of writing from the so-called protest city as a potentially linguistic phenomenon by going beyond the lexico-syntactic characteristics supposedly inherent to this mode of expression, already addressed in other scientific works. By focusing on approaches to discourse analysis and heuristic tools borrowed from pragmatics, we have highlighted the discursive dimensions of around sixty slogans pro-palestineas linguistic formulas and enunciative devices. The slogan in this regard is essentially characterized by particular linguistic choices and enunciative constants that this contribution aims to highlight.
