Mélancolie, ironie, fureur ; modernité de Baudelaire
Melancholy, irony, fury; Baudelaire’s modernity
Abstract
The aim here is to analyze three affects that permeate Baudelaire's poetry and the relations they establish between them. We will first examine the Baudelaire's theory of beauty and modernity and then reflect, based on Walter Benjamin, on the relationship between antiquity and modernity. It is here that the relationship between melancholy, irony and fury can be analyzed especially if we take into account the relationship between Baudelaire and the society of his time. The relevance of this article is that it highlights the critical scope of irony and emphasizes the procedure of shock as a way of pointing out the unspeakable character of experience.
Résumé
Il s’agit ici d’analyser trois affects qui parcourent la poésie baudelairienne et les rapports qu’ils établissent entre eux. Nous examinerons d’abord la théorie baudelairienne du beau et de la modernité pour ensuite réfléchir, à partir de Walter Benjamin, sur le rapport entre l’antiquité et la modernité. C’est ici que le rapport entre mélancolie, ironie et fureur peut être analysé surtout si nous prenons en compte le rapport entre Baudelaire et la société de son temps. La relevance de cet article est qu’il met en lumière la porté critique de l’ironie et met l’emphase sur la procédure du choc comme forme de pointer le caractère innommable de l’expérience.
